Two weeks ago today I turned the big 27. I prepared myself for my birthday in multiple different ways this year.
One month before my birthday, I decided to do a 5 day cleanse (the master cleanse). Now, I am very open about being health conscious, but I do equally make a lot of poor decisions when it comes to my health. This year, I wanted to do this 5 day cleanse to jump start the 30 days leading to my birthday. Usually, I am big about New Years and all of that but this year I decided to really use my 27th birthday as turning a new leaf. Now after completing the cleanse I have never felt so amazing in my entire life. My skin looked great, I looked toned, and I had so much energy. This was the perfect way to really get focused on me. The purpose of the cleanse was to get all of the bad out of my body, to kick those cravings, and increase my energy. The following weeks after the cleanse I hit the gym hard. HITT classes and yoga at my little slice of heaven, Empower Fitness Lab.
I tend to stress out and overwhelm myself with problems that are irrelevant. So weeks before my birthday I decided to get really clear about what I wanted for myself in my 27th year. I mapped out all of my frustrations and turned them into goals. Instead of dwelling and stressing myself out I made a list of everything I wanted to change and made an easy solution to each problem. Now I have a clear vision as to what I really want out of this upcoming year. This helped my stress tremendously.
This year I decided to really focus on spending time with those I love so I headed back to Dallas. Now the weather wasn’t exactly cooperating that weekend, but I was determined to celebrate. Dallas was basically flooded and the rain was not planning on stopping. I am a big lover of a patio dining so my family and I did an amazing brunch at Chelsea’s Corner in Uptown Saturday morning. Their private room surrounded by windows really made for the inside/outside feel.
Saturday evening, I enjoyed a unique dinner at Don’t Tell Supper Club in downtown Dallas. Now if you have not been to a supper club this is a must. You experience fine dining mixed with impressive entertainment throughout your meal. After dinner my friends and I snuck through the back door of one of my favorite hidden gems in Deep Ellum, Truth and Alibi. If you have seen the candy store on Elm St. don’t be fooled by the candy in the window. Behind the door of the candy shop you will find a classy lounge.
I often have found myself stressing about where I am at in life but I am determined to view things differently this year. Year 25 was for learning the hard lessons and exploring, 26 was for rediscovering myself and pushing my own limits, and 27 is going to be about enjoying every moment and loving who I am without apologies! Here’s to 27!
